Halifax Club Wedding - Jess and Kurt

As a wedding photographer in Nova Scotia, there are few things more rewarding than capturing the joy and love shared between two people on their special day. Nova Scotia, with its stunning landscapes, charming coastal towns, and welcoming communities, provides the perfect backdrop for weddings that are both intimate and breathtakingly beautiful.

From the moment I arrive on the day of Jess & Kurts wedding, I was filled with excitement and anticipation. I love the hustle and bustle of getting ready, the nervous energy of the bride and groom, and the anticipation of the ceremony. Jess and Kurt chose the ever stunning Halifax Club which is centered in downtown Halifax.

The Halifax Club was founded in 1862 as a private club and is still used today as such however it also is a venue for weddings and other upscale events. With it’s historic charm its a wedding photographers dream. I use to photograph weddings in Montreal (since 2012!) and this venue brings me right back to the European vibes Montreal offers. So really, it feels like home for me.

The fun thing about this venue is that both the bridal party and the groomsmen can ALL get ready at the same venue as there are distinct rooms including the Cigar Lounge for the men that can be used. Both Jess and Kurt got ready and did not run into each other at all until it was time for the first look.

We did the first look at the bottom of the stairwell which was a perfect setting as you’ll see below.

Afterward we went outside to do the bridal party photos and even though it was December 31, yes this was a NEW YEARS EVE WEDDING! You’d never guess it as there wasn’t a flake of snow anywhere. The positive was we were able to go walk around, do photos and no one was freezing! We went across to the Nova Scotia Art Gallery and then I took Jess and Kurt to my favorite location- the waterfront again just 3 blocks down from the Halifax Club.

Typically it’s after the ceremony when I love taking the bride and groom out for a photoshoot in Halifax’s picture perfect downtown locations however we got to do this before the ceremony so they were able to be 100% present with their guests the entire evening. We rushed back to the venue before guests arrived which allowed the party to freshen up have a snack and anticipate the festivities to come.

As the ceremony begins, I was focused on capturing every special moment, from Jess walking down the aisle to their epic first kiss as husband and wife. It was truly a beautiful ceremony full of laughter, smiles and a few happy tears.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a wedding photographer in Nova Scotia is seeing the joy on the faces of the newlyweds when they see their photos for the first time. To know that I have captured their special day in a way that truly reflects their love and commitment to each other is an incredible feeling. Here is a glimpse of some of my personal favorites from Jess and Kurt’s beautiful day.
